#Playmation problem..help
13 messages in this thread
I have (had) a copy of Playmation since about 1992 (v1.*) and recently had
a problem in which some stuff got burned up (heated pretty well will do!).
I've lost my disks and though I had back-ups, I've found that the files in
a/the subdirectory /anim are shot.. only 'horses' still shows but it won't
install.
So..I'm either SOL or I could use any helpful ideas anyone has. If anyone can
provide whatever goes in this subdir..I'd appreciate it. Or if anyone has an
old copy they'd sell cheap,, I'd consider that.
BTW..for the Hilgraeve folks…how much is an upgrade to a newer version.
and can I still upgrade if the above subdir may be nixed? Thanks,, asap will
be appreciated.

Hi Chris ..
My sympathies! We had a house fire a couple years ago and the same thing
happened to our
disks. I had great luck calling companies for replacement disks however.
THey're real
understanding, and if you're a registered user, you'll probably get replacement
disks easily
and cheaply.
Good Luck!

Chris, send me all your info including registration # if you've got it and I'll
be happy to replace the disks and manual if need be… also upgrade to ver 2.0
is 100.00…

Thanks very much Steve…
As a note to all readers, I called Hash in Seattle, there number is
** 206-750-0042 ** and talked with Steve and I want everyone to
know what a great bunch they are. They fixed me up quickly and
gave the kind of support we all hope to find when we need it. I was
very impressed, and Steve is a great rep for them…maybe he owns
the place 🙂 Here's to Hash and Playmation!! — Chris
Actually, we are located in Vancouver, Wa…. Glad you are pleased Chris 🙂
your stuff shipped today!

Jeez, practically Oregon. You probably root for the Trailblazers like my wife
(she's from Kelso) <BG>.
Ahem, but on a seriouser note – from looking at the examples in the manual,
what are the chances of seeing the dinosaur models from A:M up here so us lowly
Playmation users can get at 'em? If you consider them a selling point for the
upgrade, I understand, but I had to ask… Thanks, AD
Unfortunately, the Dinos were sold to Oregon Museum of Science and Industry
with a game called Dinosaur Safari!, so they are no longer available for us to
use as tutorial or training objects…. sorry!

Steve,
Urrk. First the 'Blazers, now the dinosaur thing. My faith is shaken.
As an aside, what was the reason there are no skeleton (morph, etc.) libraries
included with Playmation as the box suggests? It seems that it would have been
pretty simple to include something as obviously usefull as a walking.SKE for
Bob (or Ted for that matter). Was there a reason for this, like making the
user learn by doing, or what? Not bent outta' shape or anything, but it would
have been nice…
AD
Adam, No particular reason…. wait… yeah, because you learn better by doing,
that's it!….. No, rellay it's just something we didn't do…

Steve,
You guys must have this stuff laying around, right? It would probably help if
you threw in an extra disk with that kind of info on it.
Wow, my therapist is right, it really IS easier to give away other people's
stuff. AD
Great idea Adam! Maybe we'll do that! <g>
Steve
yeah do it
Oh, and…. Root for the Blazers? me? <contrite look> uhuh….
