#Animation Player Error
7 messages in this thread
Hello,
I have Imagine 3.0 for the PC. I have been having a problem trying to change
the speed of an animation after I create it in either the Stage or Detail
Editors. For instance, I can Make an animation, then when I select Play Loop
and try and change the speed, Imagine drops me to DOS and my computer locks-up.
I spoke with Larry at Impulse and he suggested it might be my mouse driver. I
used an earlier version of my driver, but the same thing keeps happening. I
have tried a clean boot — same thing. Is this a bug ? And if so, how can I get
a fix for this?

You must be talking about making quick anims in the stage, and Sate anims in
the Detail editor. I've had no problem with the animation requestor in either
of the places. I've been able to click on the slider and change the speed,
stop it, step each frame, etc.
Your best bet would be to inquire further about it with someone at Impulse. I
do recall someone a while back who had problems related to a mouse. Apparently
it was not a well behaved device. Once he upgraded to a more well known brand
he had no problems. Wish I could help further, but the folks at Impulse would
have more knowledge about it.

What kind of hardware are you using? You know, motherboard, CPU, video card,
etc. Also, copies of your autoexec.bat and config.sys files would be helpful.
I had a similar problem with Imagine back in my "early days" (8 or 9 months
ago) that Impulse also thought was due to my mouse or mouse driver. However,
it turned out that the problem was due to the video card I was using…I
swapped out the card for a different one and haven't had a problem since.

I think you are right concerning the video card. I have a new ATI mach64 VLB. I
need to try a different video card to verify the problem. Thank you for your
help.
Mike
Mike,
I use an ATI mach 32 VLB with Imagine…no problem. The new Mach 64 has some
significant differences though, and since it is new, it may be the culprit.

Steve,
I too suspect the Mach64. I guess I'll just have to live with it.
Mike
Mike,
You may want to contact ATI technologies about your problem. Imagine's
interface runs in a standard VGA mode, so you should not experience
difficulties.
