To anyone :- I have a question about imagine's rendering speed :- What speed comparison is there between an amiga 68030/33 and a 486 dx2-66 I used to use imagine 2.0 on an Amiga with a 68030/33 accelerator and the performance was excellent I am looking to upgrade from my amiga package to PC ver 3.1 – if this is possible. Is the package the same on the PC as it is on the amiga ? – or will i have to learn from scratch ? Does imagine 3.1 come on CD – if so are more objects etc available to use ? Thanks for your help. Mark Buddle.

>> What speed comparison is there between an amiga 68030/33 and a 486 dx2-66 Mark, From what I am told, the PC is quicker. However, I personally have no way to compare it myself. I have a 486DX2/66, so if you want to send me a project file, I'll render it and give you the time it takes to render it. I can use IM2.0, 2.9, 3.0, or 3.1 (whichever you have) to do the comparison. Upgrade from Imagine2.0 AMIGA to PC 3.0 is $200. Imagine 3.1 is part of Impulse's Constant Update program, which is $100. In it, you get 4 updates during the year, ending in Imagine 4.0. The Amiga and PC packages are Identical, all the way down to the interface. -GreG

GreG, Thanks, – I have no way of getting hold of a project file unless I get my amiga out of the loft – re install imagine etc… Is a demo version of imagine available – ive seen a demo of REAL3D for the PC. Apparently Meridian software in London will be changing their upgrade price, this hopefully reduce's the price to around L100 ( Upgrade from Amiga IMAGINE 2.0 to PC IMAGINE 3.1 ) Ill phone Impulse and see if its cheaper to send for an upgrade from them. ( Im in Kent – England ) Thanks again, Mark.

Mark, No "demo" of Imagine really. The closest you can get to is Imagine 2.0/PC which is bundled with the book "3D Modeling Lab", costs about $35.00 If you're interested I can give you the ISBN number. Of course, you've already seen Imagine 2.0, so there won't be anything new for you to play with. <g> -GreG
