Hi Scott! It took me a while to find my way over here to the forum I helped set
up, but here I am! Thanks for participating. What is Soft/FX?

Hi Doug:
Good to speak with you again. SoftF/X is the new Windows 3.1/NT version of
Envisage 3D. We have redesigned the interface to be completely
Windows-standard. Basically the only time we did not religiously follow the
Windows interface guidelines is when Photoshop did not. Our objective with the
SoftF/X interface was to design a powerful 3D software package that looked and
felt as much as possible as a Windows user of Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and
Corel Draw would expect. In addition we developed an incredibly fast Windows
package that is completely extensible via DLL plug-ins. We are actively
soliciting all IPAS developers to convert their IPAS routines to DLL plug-ins
for SoftF/X. Full developer documentation is available now.
SoftF/X is a true 32-bit system running under Windows NT, Windows95, and
Windows 3.1 with the Win32s DLL installed. The code is very portable to any
Windows NT platform with a version for the RAPTOR already completed. We have
been approached by DEC Alpha and Motoralo to recompile for their NT platforms
as well. The recompile to other platforms is easy assuming a business case can
be made for it. Religiously following Microsoft's rules enables easy porting
and outstanding performance.
SoftF/X will ship on or before Nov 7, 1994 with a suggested list price of $995.
We are offering an introductory special of $497.50 (50% discount) through Dec
1994 in the U.S. and Canada only. Our primary objective in offering the low
introductory price is to build market share quickly in order to further
encourage IPAS developers to recompile for SoftF/X.
I hope that this brings you up to date. I hope all is well.
Best regards,
Scott
I'll order mine today! I am looking for a program as easy to use as Envisage,
but for Windows. As I have said before, I have professional 3D guys who love 3D
studio, but I also have some designers and artists who could never learn the
interface. They want things like 3D beveled text and simple animations of same.
Typestry just doesn't cut it. Too slow… I'll send a check today!

Hi Doug:
I am pleased that you are excited about SoftF/X. If your designers found
Envisage easy, they will be blown away by the ease of use of SoftF/X. We
implemented almost all of the suggestions from users of Envisage as well as
worked closely with some Microsoft interface designers in developing SoftF/X.
I believe that you and your designers will be very pleased. Thank you for your
continued interest and support.
Best regards,
Scott
