#Visual Reality Questions
4 messages in this thread
I'm looking to purchase Visual Reality (VR) just as soon as I can get some more
RAM and cash together. Could you answer me the following questions:
Is 12 Megabytes of RAM enough to run it sensibly or wiIl I spend ages sitting
around waiting for things to load.
Will it run under Windows NT or are you looking to port it? Have you tried it
under Chicago yet?
Thanks.
Hi Tim:
Yes, 12MB is certainly enough RAM. You can run with 8MB, but that cuts it so
close that you can't afford a very large SmartDrive (disk cache), so it slows
things down. With 12 MB or more that's not a problem, so the performance gains
going from 12 to 16MB are less dramatic than going from 8 to 12MB.
It'll run under Windows NT, but I can't advise you as to the gotchas since I'm
not yet too sharp on NT. Since we are 32-bit already, we can really take
advantage of NT, and have compiled such a product. We're only waiting for a
larger market need before we dedicate resources to dubugin that platform.
Same as above for Chicago. We're as close to releasing a Chicago version as
Microsoft is to releasing Chicago <g>.
Thanks for your interest!
Nick J for Visual Software
My brother and I recently pooled our money and picked up a copy of Visual
Reality. We were amazed at how easy it is to use this package!! I also have
WorldToolkit for Windows(Sense8) and wondered if you guys had an example
of any application that was currently using your .eye to .nff convertor. I am
using
(learning!!) the Borland 4.0 compiler and have not yet been successful in
compiling the software that visual supplied w/ WTK.
Thanks in advance…Keith Tomes

Hey!
I've got the NT version of VR! You make it sound like it doesn't exist! It has
a few bugs in it but it eats the lunch of the plain Windows version which a
friend of mine has!
