Actually I have DataCAD. It is a good program, but at the time I purchased it
I really didn't have the time to get into yet another CAD program. Once in a
while I'll drag it out and give it go. So far, with AutoCAD, CADVANCE, 3D
Studio and Renderize, there's just not much room left in my pea-sized brain to
hold any more application info. <g> I would surely upgrade to a Windows
version should one come out. That's the main reason I picked up on there (not
so) limited time offer of $150. Have you added your own 3D symbols to the
library. I thought that the ones that came with the program to be too
simplistic for rendering. I guess it depends on what you're presenting for.

I know what you mean about trying to keep the SW sorted, in limited grey
matter. I've been reviewing graphic and CAD SW for a while now and even my
_mouse_ can't remember what it is supposed to do<g>.
It is really amazing to see all of this stuff marketed to the general user.
When you get into programs that are as inately complex as this category,
SERIOUS study is required. With the prices coming into the reasonable zone,
every Johnny Homeowner gets one to play with. Makes one wonder how many of
those boxes are actually being used productively.
On the other hand, it also makes the client who has "tried this at home" more
appreciative of what the professional has accomplished.

I think this might be a real good use for the VISSOFT library here on CIS. I'm
sure that every one has modeled objects for their own use in these situations,
so why not pass them on? DXFs zip up real tight so there would be minimal
connect charges. A .TXT/.WRI file should be included with source program,
scale info, and a copyright notice for those who would poach for resale. Like
objects could be zipped into one file with the CIS description clearly listing
the contents.
I think it would be interesting to see where my stuff might turn up.

So far it doesn't seem as if anyone is that interested in that high a level of
interaction with this forum. Then again, the forum is pretty new. I uploaded a
few patterns for texture mapping and alpha channel use, they are fun to play
with if nothing else.
I may have a few models of my own I could upload. If we are all using
RenderizeLive then GED files would be good (they are so much more compact than
DXF files).

Please, tell me you wouldn't upload a DXF file without Zipping it first. <G>
I'll be sure and take a peek at some of your textures.
