Hello, where can the "Tips and Tricks" series be purchased. How many books are there and how much are they? Thanks in advance. Mark

Mark I got a list of useful 3DS books from the forum message section. Can't remember exactly where and now can't find the sheet of paper I printed the file onto. Sorry. Try searching under tips or books or tricks in the message section. That will probably reveal what you are looking for. Ian

I just got the "Tips and Tricks" series in the mail. (They look absolutely great, Michele!) There are six books in the series, covering such topics as shaping, lofting, morphing, materials & lighting, modeling people and animals. There's an entire book on glass and reflection, and one called "Technical Tips." They came to me directly from the publisher. I imagine they can tell you where to purchase the books: Delmar Publishers, 3 Columbus Circle, P.O. Box 15015, Albany, NY, 12212-5015. (800) 998-7498. It's also possible that one of the dealers online here can tell you if he/she carries them. (As long as they don't mention the price <g>) – Jack

Thank you for the info. Now if only I can find the time to read all this stuff! 3DS is truly a great product, keep up the good work. BTW, just a curious thought. What was the reason for initially choosing DOS as the environment to work in as opposed to Windows ? Is it because at the time Windows still had teething pains or was it because of the overhead Windows has? Also, my partner has to turn on his printer in order to run 3DS4. The vendor told him to "Just disconnect your printer". Is there a more reasonable answer? Sorry for so many questions at once. Thanks, Mark

Thanks for the kudos. As for Windows, it just wasn't a viable alternative when we began development of 3DS. You're right when you say too much overhead. Re the printer problem, Jonas has the answer for you. – J
