Hi there: I am planning to buy a copy of Macromind Director 4.0 for Windows. I have also put in my order for a copy of Animation studio. Now, the quiestion is: Do i need Director 4.0 if i am getting Animation Studio??!! How much redundency do you think there will be between the two programs??!! What can one do, that the other can not?? I am not at all familiar with the Authoring programs! My intention is to have the ability to produce ineractive cd rom based titles. Can you please explaine and direct me to the right direction?! Thanks in advance Ara

Ara, If you are refering to Animator Studio, the Autdesk product that will be available in March, these two programs are very different. AASTUDIO is still primarily a creation tool, as Animator Pro currently is. It's Authoring capabilities are limited. Director is an Authoring/Presentation tool. It's creation functions are very limited. An effective presentation would probably require both types of programs. -Brian

Ara, you can get all of your questions comprehensively answered regarding all of the different authoring system capabilities in the multimedia vendor forum. go multiven. For your info I have been using iconauthor which is very capable and it allows for the addition of animation, video, audio, graphics etc, etc to build interactive titles. I have been extremely satisfied with its power and support is outstanding Sam

IconAuthor is made by Aimtech Co. there number is 603-883-0220. They are located in New Hampshire. They allow you to use there software for 30 days for a trial period. Sam

Sorry Ara, but I am the expert on the Autodesk side. I don't use Diretor, so I am not best to answer your questions on that software. There is a Multimedia Vendors forum which you should visit for that information. Good luck searching. -Brian

ARA, After you shell out the money for Director or Adobe Premier or whatever, you'll have to shell out some more bucks for a CD-R and Record software not to mention some more harddrive space to preview from. Well i plan to put about 10k in for a complete setup! including a recorder. I think it should be possible to have a good setup with this budget?!!? I will let you know how things go Ara
