The US market may be small in comparison to the UK market but the one
thing the US market wants is higher end machines. If CBM UK won out, I
fear we power hungry high end users would be ignored. It's these same
high end systems that make good Video Toaster/Flyer systems here in the
US. These machines are also good homes to Emplants! 🙂
While I have nothing against low end machines, I just don't want to see
the high end abandoned nor do I wish the US to be considered sub-rate.
Some of us just can't get ourselves to jump on the Pentium/MS WindowsNT
bandwagon. PowerPC (604 or 620 based) perhaps but NOT running WindowsNT
please…

Why not start selling in Europe and USA at the same time?
I also think that Low-end machines are needed but not a electronic trash
like the A500 I am typing on or the A1200. This kind of a case and the
missing Expansionports are the ONE AND ONLY reasons why the Amiga was
never accepted …… Ohhhhh noooooo in this moment I hear a Intel Pentium
commercial at the radio arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

OK where did I stop… ahhh yes even a IBM 8 Bit PC had a desktop case and
expansion ports. Also the Amiga is too expensive. We need a Amiga with the
same features as a PC at the same price. Show me one person who buys a 386
PC!!! The 486 PC's are so cheap that even pupil like me can buy em.
Lots of Pentium … Another 2 hours of unconsciousness … are sold.
The Cyberstorm 060/50 costs the same as a Pentium (not a fault of AS&S).
And then you need in addition an A4000, which you can't buy without
proccessorcard. Every Amiga-magazine tells you that an Amiga is cheap but
thats not right.

When the Amiga was the LESS expensive platform, people thought it couldn't
be worth much and they bought more expensive PCs. Once the PCs were the
cheap ones, PC buyers said Amigas were too expensive!

It's never been a cost problem. That's the game machine mentality. It's been a
performance problem. You could never generally use the machine, it was niche,
niche, niche, and even in that niche, only three companies have successfully
managed to bring the perception around into something they could use "out
there": Scala, ASDG (now ER) and NewTek. The rest of the market is a captive
market and wasn't anything to brag about.
