John, thank for the reply. I have amiga dos 3.1. with the aid of adpro and
cross dos, i know how to transfer graphic files back and forth. it's that one
script mac disk that i have that has me puzzled. it doesn't make much sense for
me to buy additional software just to read one disk, i don't plan to have a
frequent use or this. if i can't do with what i have, i could ask one of my
friends to transfer the disk for me.

btw, i also do have an external high density drive for the amiga.

You definitely have the hardware to do it. One problem with transferring
between Amiga-PC-Mac is what happens to the file each time it is transferred.
IE: How are Carriage returns, line feeds etc. handled when converting a file.
With MACs it's even more of a pain- Each file has a data fork and a resource
fork. Without the resource fork a MAC will think a file is a word processing
document, even if it's a program. Since I now have EMPLANT on A4000, EMPLANT
will pretty much automatically transfer files from 'one side to the other.'
However, before I had Emplant, I had a few occasions where I was frustrated
like you. Since you don't want to spend any money to buy a utility that might
make the transfer transparent, I suggest you 'play' with the different settings
on whatever software you've been using so far. Remember that Amiga and PCs
handle carriage returns and line feeds a little differently. This is important
if you are going to transfer an Amiga file to an MS-DOS disk to then be read by
a MAC. On the MAC side, if you are using the system's file transfer utility,
be aware that there are a number of options you can set to filter the transfer.
(I forget what key it is, but I don't think it's a menu option. You might need
to check a manual, or it might be mentioned in the on-screen help.) At any
rate, it should definitely be possible with the hardware/software you've got.
Once you do it- write down exactly the way you did- both for your own future
reference and for anyone else who might have the same problem in the future.
