#lightwave surfaces
5 messages in this thread
Here's one for the collective mind…
Lightwave 2.0 running on a 2500….rendering surfaces don't seem correct at
times.
Whites look grey and chrome and marble don't look right.
Is it just me, or what?
Any help appreciated.

Lee,
I think it's just you. <g> Lightwauses a veritible plethora <whew> of
variables to calculate surfaces. You're not the first person to become
frustrated when the surfaces don't come out just right. What it takes is some
major time toxperiment…changing just ONE variable at a time to see how it
affects the whole. Just plugging in someone elses numbers, such as from a VTU
tutorial, is a good place to start, but can't give the intuitive feel for how
to set up a completely new surface based only on your "mind's eye".

Jim,
Time to experiment? I want it now! <g>
Thanks for the input.

Lee,
Remember to use Low Res and limited segments when testing surfaces. It saves a
LOT of time when trying to tweak it to just the right look. Also, don't forget
the huge impact LIGHTING has on your work. Color, intensity, angle, Key
lights, fill lights, back lights…all will affect how your surfaces look.

Jim,
Thanks for the advice. I'm new to using LW and can use all the help I can get.
