Howdy, My buddy wants to write out Anims (DPaint) to use as quicktime frames on his classroom Mac. Is there an automated way on Ami? AdPro? Fred? ImageMaster? I use both, but haven't done any animation, or Arex scripting, so can't easily answer his question. We can get files over no problem, probably with the excellent CrossMac by Consultron, and Syquests. TIA, Jan

Jan, There is no real solution to rendering quicktime outside of the PC and Mac platforms as most of quicktime's compression/animation codecs are either patented or simply undocumented. Mainactor, a PD/Shareware program, has a very limited quicktime module tho. Our ImageFX can render out FLC animations and the upcoming 2.0 release will also support MPEGs which you can find players for on the Mac. Kermit Woodall Nova Design, Inc.

Thanx Kermit (and Ben). Sounds like he does the work manually, over on the Mac. I'll hit the Mac forums, see if there's an 'automated' utility on the Mac. DeBabelizer or a scripting utility for Photoshop? Jan

PMFJI, but if you can easily move the Amiga RGB files over to the Mac, it's a piece of cake to use DeBabelizer and PhotoShop to create any kind of QuickTime movie you need. I've done it a number of times – even on my EMPLANT Mac Emulator. I use the EMPLANT, but there are a number of less hardware intensive products (CrossMac, and MaxDOS) that will allow you to mount a Mac formatted HD and read/write files to it from your Amiga. Hi Erik, Thanx for jumping in here! I looked at Debabelizer yesterday at work and seems more confusing than AdPro (to a novice! 8-)). Seriously though, I'm going to check it out further next week. Or, my buddy and I will. Again, transferrring the files is zero problem with CrossMac or even AMax IV, if I can finally get it to boot off my internal?? Any Debabelizer set up hints or tips? TIA, Jan

DeBabelizer does have a pretty weird interface! :^) I just ended up modifying one of the existing batch files. I can't remember the exact process, though I think DeBab did it on it's own, no PhotoShop required. Basically, I just set it to load Amiga IFF/ILBM format, and set the list of files using the requester. Next I set the output format (QuickTime, etc.) and pathname. Once the scipt was started, the only feedback is in the bottom of the toolbar on the left side of the screen. Actual compilation speed was surprisingly fast on my 40MHz 040 EMPLANT. Have Fun! Jan: Unfortunately, there is not an easy way to get a Amiga anim over to the QuickTime format. About the only way I know of is to break the Amiga anim into individual frames, convert them to the PICT format, and then transfer the PICT frames to the Mac. There is a utility, but can't think of the name, for the Mac that will take a bunch of PICT frames and convert them to a QuickTime movie. If you need the name of the utility, let me know and I'll try to dig it up. // John – (Being artistic via AutoPilot) \X/ Mercury@ins.infonet.net

John, We pretty much concluded the same, but were thinking DeBabelizer could batch the IFFs to Picts once they were on the Mac. I didn't get to look at DeBabelizer at work/school today, maybe tomorrow. Certainly then we'd want to Quicktime 'em. If you could dig up a pointer to that utility here on CIS that'd help. TIA, Jan
