#Anim –> QuickTime?

I have an Emplant now and have been browsing the Mac fora. I just
discovered MacMultimedia Forum, and cataloged parts of the libraries
(QuickTime movies). Here is a description that caught my eye:

I immediately thought of some of the IM demo morphs.
Do you know if there is any simple method to turn an Amiga anim into a QT
movie, to impress them guys with?

Nope, sure don't know of a way to make into Quicktime.
macs have Elastic Reality available, so anythign done with Morph (Gryphon's
product) is painfully simplistic by comparison. I suspect they'll figure that
out before too long.
And, since we don't plan to make a Mac version of anything, ER's all they're
going to have. Windows users however will have something _considerably_ better
than ER within 30 days… :^)

We're going to do it – the announcement is waiting on some CIS machinations,
believe it or not. I expect you'll know the specifics in days. It's a pretty
darned good deal, I can tell you that.

You know, in the past, it's been more of a Ben<->Perry problem than a Black
Belt <-> ER/ASDG problem. We've had good things to say about ER/ASDG products
many times in the past, though that may be difficult to recall in the face of
my reactions to some of Perry's previous overtures.
If the high road is in the offing, I'm all for it. I think we'd all do better;
and as I've said many times, I think we can deal with pretty much any
competition on a technical level. We've not had the strength for decent
marketing in the past, and we're still learning. They've been nothing less than
a marketing powerhouse for quite some time, I wish I could say the same for us,
but it ain't so. We don't need open animosity.
In an online conference here in the Amiga forums, when discussion turned for
some reason (not my doing – I wasn't even there) to my martial arts skills,
Perry remarked something to the effect that he was an expert in "Penjitsu",
which was a pretty funny remark in general – and also matched my opinion of him
to a "T".
Anyway, peace isn't a bad thing. :^)

Not ME. You can even ask Kermit, I've never harrased anyone at Nova either
<g>. You are right though, peace is a good thing that we need with more
Amiga developers, especially now in these trying times. To be at each
others throat is unproductive, and as Spock would say "Illogical".
To get back to the message subject, I read on the Usenet newsgroups that
someone is working on a program that is very similar to the PPM graphics
format and libraries, except it is for animations. In other words, you
could take a QuickTime movie and convert it to AVI, Anim-5, or whatever
other animation formats that are supported, and vice versa. An Amiga
version of this universal animation converter is currently being worked
on, so maybe it won't be too long down the road that we can view some of
those QuickTime movies, or convert some of our Amiga anims to QuickTime.

hey, yeah… has your generalship improved any since I was around before?

Well, I like to think so. :^) My students are pretty well cleaning up at the
various TKD tournements around here, and since teaching is what I do, I'd say
that's at least an indicator. I'm a lot lighter than I've been in years, about
80 lbs down from my worst. Hopefully I'll never exclusively command a desk
again, I'm clearly not cut out for it.
