There will be a product called GO-64! coming out in mid-January. It is a
Commodore 64 emulator for the Amiga. It plugs into the printer port and
connects to a 1541 or 1571 drive. It is due to be priced aroun59.00.

Nope, maybe the physical drive might be similar, but the C=64 drives
are "smart" drives, they contain the DOS on a ROM inside the drive. As the
saying goes…'No DOSsie, no wasshie"

So I should go with the IBM compatable version of the X-10 program then and use
TRANSFORMER. Do you know of a place that is selling TRANSFORMER without the

No, I don't know of someone selling the Transformer by itself. That
doesn't mean it isn't sold that way, just don't know of anyone doing it.
However, since when running transformer you can't do anything else with
the Amiga….why waste the Amiga. Go to a local ToyR-Us or similar store,
plunk down about $200 for a C=64 and drive and dedicate that to the Appliance
stuff, seems like a cheaper way to go to me.

Don, wrong, the X-10 programmable module is only $19.90 from DAK and Doug just
came up with an Amiga program that will do the ob, so I'm home free ($20.00
free that is)…Dave

I was refering to the cost of the C=64 emulator or transformer and the
cost of the C=64 itself.

Right. The X-10 unit gets programmed and disconnected from the computer so it
doesn't tie anything up…Dave
The GO-64! is really for the C/64 owner who wants to upgrade to an Amiga. If
you are already running X-10 programs on the C/64, then you probably already
have a drive, if not you need one in addition to the emulator.

Ken, what I want to do is have a X-10 program that will run on the Amiga.
DAK sells several versions two of which are the Commodore and the IBM version.
I'm trying to decide which I should buy. At this point it looks like the IBM
version would be best since I have other IBM stuff I want to run on the Amiga.
BTW do you sell TRANSFORMER minus the drive? That's what I need right
now…Dave

I have a program that runs on THE AMIGA that allows you to program
the BSR interface. Its written in basic. But it apears to work.
I dont have one of those interfaces YET! But I just might get one.

Please let me know when it does come out. I've got a 1541 that I'm using as a
door stop (literally) and a whole batch of Synapse C-64 games that I'd like to
play (why aren't there any arcade style games for Amiga other than Marble
Madness?). For $59 I'll definitely give it a shot.
Apart from Marble Madness there is the Mind Walker game, which I find really
nice. It is really 3 different arcade style games in one.

Yes, I forgot about MindWalker — but still, 2 fast action, reflex intensive,
non-cerebral games is not a lot compared to all of the other entertainment
software out there. I occassionally enjoy the mindless stress release of
zapping mutatants from Baltron. Oh well.

I think a character must have dropped in transmission the Go-64! is due
to sell for $159.00 not $59.00! It really ia a shame that there are not alot of
arcade style games for the Amiga.
Maybe Activision's release of Gamemaker for the Amiga will help, and speaking
of Synapse, there is Bill William's Mindwalker. The only others that will be
coming out soon are Activison/Gamestar Baseball and Football and Electronic
Art's driving game(This one is hot!).

Just one question here. Why would I buy a C64 emulator for the same
price (or more) than I can get the real thing? You might suggest to the Go-64
people that there price is a little high.

If you already own an Amiga you don't need a C/64, but if you own a C/64 and
are thinking about an Amiga, TA-DA you can have a computer that runs your
current software, and an Amiga Too!
I agree it is little high priced, but it is not for people to go out and buy
Commodore drives, it is for the people who already own them.

You are still not making sense. If they own the C=64 drives and have
C=64 programs, I presume they already have C=64 computers. Why would they then
want an emulator? They have the real thing. I can't believe they can sell
the C=64 for $159 or trade it in (real dollars in trade in value) for anywhere
near that..so why get rid of it?

At $159 I'll pass (I'd pay that for an Atari 800 emulator tho).
