Hey dere , I was wondering if anybody else was either curious or stupid enough to but this new game called Deep Space by Psygosis. I've had it for about a week and a half, but have only tried to play it 3 times because of finals. Anyway, you get a Heavy Metal type comic book (whoopee<=heavy sarcasm), and a woefully helpless instruction book that gives you very little idea what in the hell you're supposed to do. If anyone could clue me into how you're supposed to enjoy this, I'll certainly be grateful. The graphics are outstanding, gameplay confusing, and information really stinks. Thanks Reed

I've had it about a week myself, have played it many more than 3 times, and still don't know what the hell the object is. The hardest thing about it is navigation. The cute little maps in the manual are alright, but useless without coordinates. Also, the navigational screen just doesn't seem to work right. When you click an object on the left side and then click one on the right, the one on the left changes. I've got all three Psygnosis games (unfortunately)…Brattacas, Arena, and DS. Of the three, DS is probably the best, if that tells you anything about the others. Arena is by far the worst! Any Christmas shoppers…AVOID ALL PROGRAMS BY THIS COMPANY! Regards… –Matt P.S. If you figure anything out, let me know. I agree, the graphics are great, but all of their games have good graphics. Unfortunately they think they can sell games on graphics alone and forget about the gameplay. In my case they were right (WERE).

I am playing deep space on the ST and have come to like it(after I came to understand the navigational system. You must turn on the double screen on the left, then click on the object you want to move to in each of the double screen nav windows. Then cllick on the third button in the same row of buttons that brings up the double screen(i.e. top row, right button). Move your ship until the squares in that window look like boxes lined up one within another and are of a yellow color(yellow on the ST, consult your manual). The boxes will move together to the outside of the window as you get closer to your goal. In the same window it also shows your distance from the goal. I did not like the game at first either(I still dislike Bratacus, all flash and no cash as they say); but if you give this game some time and spend some time studying the manual the controls and stuff will become second nature and the game is quite good. Good luck. Marc Baime

Matt, I took the hint a little earlier on Brattacas and therefore saved myself some money and more importantly aggravation. I've figured out the navigation alright, but it is tedious, boring, and no fun either! And even with knowing how to get around, I still haven't found out what in the hell to do!!! As for the graphics, my copy every once in a while will get a planet or astroid stuck on the screen and nothing I can do will get rid of it. Let's hope this is enough warning to others to not buy this game, and thereby get rid of the marginal computer games around. (Computer Baseball by SSI is by far the worst translation of a game yet. The amiga version is worse than the 5 yearold Apple II+ version) Good luck on future games, REED

Hey Reed, have you heard about how to go about upgrading to the new improved version of Gridiron? I sent my warranty card in and have not been notified thru the mail. Have you heard anything? Nevin

Nevin, Nope haven't heard a thing nut then being the slightly irresponsible graduate student type person I am, I didn't send in my card yet. I'll do it soon. I'm going to call Bethesda tomorrow 16dec about the upgrade. Maybe it's free. Doubt it though. Did you try my double man to man on the ends defense. My chiefs held the raiders scoreless for 2 games on the pro level with it, my special blitz, and an occasional prevent. I'm getting sick of having the computer throw incompletions forever against the prevent with time running out. In fact I bump the intended receiver so their Qb will throw to someone else. Good game, but needs better stat capabilities. I'll let you know about the upgrade if I hear anything. REED
