I have just received my RAM-BOard back from Techni-Soft. I had problems with programs that tried to address the serial and parallel ports, I sent my board back to T-S 2 1/2 weeks ago for repair. I am now running with RAM-BOard, using Online which did not run before repairs. I have not tried a lot of programs at this time, but have tried most of the ones I had problems with before repairs, they all seem to run now. It did not have the cover for the buss yet. Also I had 2 more megs added I now have 4 megs, seems to work OK. I will report after spending more time with this system. Reason for getting 2 more megs, I wanted to know if more memory would mean more problems, now rather than later. Pete

Pete, thank you for the report. I also have my board in for the two updates (new PAL for serial/parallel/reboot problems, and new enclosed edge connector). It's encouraging to hear that they >are< shipping (at least one of) these updates, and that they do return what you've sent in for repairs… Also encouraging that the extra 2MB boards really exist. Now if they'd only get the boards to the other 6 group purchasers who are still waiting… – Bela

Bela, What conversations with T-S led you to send your board back for updates? What is their policy in regard to these updates for the group purchasers- do they want additional cash, did they give you a firm date for the return of the board? Also, do you know of any definitive way to tell if the the PAL chip for serial and parallel i/o is not functioning correctly? I don't seem to have any problems, but I'd hate to find some at a later time. Thanks Bill C-B

Bill, I think we should get our boards upgraded with the new PAL chip. Mine has been functioning OK all the time EXCEPT for two days, when nothing could be printed with the RAM included. I would hate at a later point in time to find out that condition to become permanent. Do you have 1.2 ? With that it will not auto-configure after a warm boot. -Joergen

Joergen, I have WB1.2 (33.39) but not the final release. I haven't been able to warm boot either with T-S and 1.2 running, but it may be that I've only warmbooted after some other problem – I can't remember. BTW, I've crashed each time I've tried to run cosmo with T-S and 1.2 running. Aside from this/these I've had no problems. Not sure yet about what to do as far as the PAL replaccement. Bill C-B

Bill, I have to log on to T-S' board and re-download the bulletin about the PAL update. Will try to get to it tonight… – Bela
