Hi, I have an IBM Color Jetprinter 3852-2 and was taking a look at the manual with regards for setting up colours for printing. Well, from what I can tell, this printer only supports 8 colors (Black, Blue, Red, Magenta, Green, Cyan, Yellow, and Neutral(White)). Since this printer has the same engine as the Canon PJ-1080A, I would like to know if the Canon model supports the same basic colors and the printer driver has to pull some form of tricks to get more colours from the Canon, or does the Canon have commands for supporting more colors? I would really like to know if this IBM printer can get the same results that the Canon version is capable of or not. If it isn't, I will take this printer back, and get the Canon printer from another store. Tnx in advance (again), Kelly

Kelly, I am still trying to get INK for my IBM. The IBM has better text than the Canon, so if you can get them for the same price, get the IBm. OR, get the QuadRAM printer. Bri

Fine Brian, maybe you should check (UGH) Computerland on the ink. Must be some other places to get some, just to get going. You are quite right on the print quality, the IBM is great, loved that condensed super + sub scripts.. I got one for 450 Canadian, they said there cost was 400! How did I do? What about the number of colors, is this the same as the Canon? Just can't wait.. Just can't wait… he he 73 de VE3OTK Kelly..

Dunno on the colors yet Kelly. I am checking ComputerLand on the ink, mainly because they asked me to get the printer working for them, and it is their printer. I could always go to Radio Shack, but I don't think they'd like that. Bri
