Roy, I hope you can understand that sometimes things don't go exactly as one would like. The 2000-and-1 delivery schedule is one of those things. We've tried very hard to bring the product out when we thought we were able but alas things such as moving the entire company 900 miles and a whole bunch of other things has interfered. None of the reasons for delay have been technical. The technical aspects of the product are in fact completely in hand. But there's so much more to bringing a product to market than having the good product. I must say that CBM constantly extending the 2000 upgrade isn't helping us either. Daily, our market and product plans change in the face of changes made by others not under our controll. Anyway, this my public apology to all those awaiting the 2000-and-1. We will bring this puppy to market. But it won't be before Christmas, and in view of our previous erroneous ETA's I am going to stop predicting when it will come out. When it does it will be completely within the quality and reliability range ASDG is known for. Yours, Perry

Thank you Perry for your reply. I understand that projected times, are just that, estimation based on assumptions of the future, and capable of changing. No where is this more evident than in the computer industry. What concerned me was your absence and the projected growth of the A2000 market swallowing up the A1000 market up whole! With all the talk on CIS (not to mention elsewhere) of upgrade, one of the MAJOR reasons I am holding out is the 2000-in-1 expansion chassis. I intend to use this as a hedge with my A1000, while watching what Comodore will be doing as far as the possible fourth Amiga, the 1-meg fat agnes and the ROM based OS upgrades, not to mention the inevitable decine decline in price of aging technology. If you and ADSG have decided to not give future projections, I hope that you will continue to be a presence on CIS and once in a while mention that it will be coming out and hasn't been scrapped (a al phonemate by C-A)! Thanks again for your reply! -RSL-

Will there be a 2001-and1 for the A500?
#97270From: Perry S. Kivolowitz/ASDDec 8, 1987 12:39 AM
Henry right now we have entertained only the slightest glimmers of ideas concerning the 2000-and-1 on the 500. No plans have taken shape yet however this doesn't mean it is ruled out.

It wouldn't take much! It's not like putting alot of money into R&D for the device, and there are lots of 500s being sold. e/x
