Does anyone know of an outlet that actually has a 2 meg ram board IN STOCK for
the 2000? And for that matter, how about internal floppy drives? I am having
one heckuva time making do with what comes with. ASDG does advertise both a 2
meg and an 8 populated with 2, but I am under the impression they are for the
1000 external chassis they manufacture. I have one item on order for several
weeks with a local dealer, and a check with Abel reveals: "What
Commodore-Amiga 2 meg board?"

Abel obviously doesn't know what they are talking about, my dealer has
had quite a few 2 Meg C=A cards, and sold them all. Micron sells ASDG's card
under Micron's name and it appears to be a better board. The information I got
was the C=A board draws 3 amps and runs -hot- due to lots of refreshes while
the ASDG (Micron_ board) only draws 1.6amps and runs cool.

Don, ASDG's 8-meg board uses less amps then CBM's 2-meg board – I think it uses
2 amps (perry will correct this if I'm wrong). Marlene
Here in Denver, both the CBM 2 meg board and Micron's 2 meg board are readily
available. Both have the same suggested retail price. The Micron board
(designed licensed from ASDG) is by far the better board. It is a 4 layer
board and only draws 1.1 amps compared to CBM's 2 layer/3 amp variety.

Tom,
ASDGs 2 meg and 8 meg boards are Zorro II boards (for the A2000), and they
sell a small sdapter to allow you to add one to the 1000. Micron tech also
sells a 2 meg board (designed by ASDG), with or without the adapter for a 1000.

Larry: Thanks. Between you sysops, I think I know pretty well what I'd better
do. By the way, the assembly is coming along pretty well. The thing that
fascinates most is the small size of the object code when doing some of the
simpler examples and comparing them to the equivalent C code. While I own both
Lattice and Manx C compilers, I worked entirely with Manx because the output is
half the size of Lattice. So far, the assembly code seems about one tenth that
of Manx. Perhaps, when I advance beyond the stage of opening screens and
windows, this difference will disappear. For now, however, it seems
incredible. Tom.
