#NEW TO AMIGA

Well, I finally did it. We have decided to get an AMIGA.
I have a business generating graphic material for motion picture and
television. Up to now, the main device we have used is the IBM AT with
special Genlockable EGA cards. To top it all off, we have all our systems
modified for 48 field rate for use in filming. We have been interested in
the AMIGA for about 2 years, but have had a hard time talking ourselves
into something other than IBM.
I am sure we will use a model 2000, with some sort of Genlock adapter. I
will have to do a bunch or research into the different types of adapters.
Of course I will be looking to modify a system for 48 field video.
This looks like a terrific forum, I will be jumping in from time to time as
I see discussions of genlock and video boards to help create a list for me
to check into.
I am also interested in subjects of IBM / AMIGA interfacing and communication.
If there is anybody out there that has similar interests, and would enjoy a
specific dialogue with me, please write. I will be here.

I have had a 24 frame Amiga for use in TV & film production for three
years. Perhaps you've seen it recently in John Carpenter's "Prince of
Darkness", or the HBO movie "Into The Homeland". I worked for many years
at "Ruxton, Ltd." in Burbank doing 24 frame video. When Ruxton folded, I
bought a genlock for my Apple IIe ($2400!), mofified it for 24 and rented
it out. That's been on the shelf since the Amiga came out!
You'll find the Amiga an excellent choice for what you are doing. Since I'm
no longer in the biz, except for occasional consulting on features and
commercials, I'd be glad to help out (I'm now a programmer and Dir of Prod
