I ran across an "industry standard" file format the other day that I'd like
to be able to change Amiga Graphics files into to take advantage of some
wonderful graphics printing offered by a firm here. The format is called
CGM–Computer Graphics Metafile. Didn't see anything in the AmigaARts
section. Do you know anything about it, especially if there is a file
conversion utility available?
I don't know anything about CGM. It's possible there might be a conversion
from GIF to CGM, and since we can convert IFF to GIF, it's a possible
route. I doubt, however, that any GIF to CGM converter would run on the
Amiga… –>Steve Bennett
CGM is used mostly for CAD-like drawings. I don't know if it incorporates
bitmaps, I don't think it does, so it really wouldn't be possible to
convert an Amiga bitmap to CGM. But I may be wrong, ask these folks if CGM
handles color bitmaps, as well as CAD drawings, and I suspect they'll give
you the right answer.
So, it is possible to convert CGM to and from other Amiga formats, such as
Aegis Draw, X-CAD, things like that.
