I point you towards several reviews which compared FaccII and that other
program head to head. In each case the reviewer found FaccII to be superiour
for objective reasons such as performance and features as well as subjective
reasons such as ease of use and ergonomics.
Note that Blitzdisk appears to be an ongoing product, but FaccII appears to
be on sentry duty.
Beg to differ with you, but the Info magazine comparison between FACC and
BlitzDisk to be comparable in performance, and easier to use; and that was
for the original BlitzDisk, not BlitzDisk 2.0.

I've been a very satisfied user of FaccII for a very long time, but since
I now use a hard disk most of the time, I'm forced to look elsewhere for
speed improvement. Why have you not upgraded Facc to work with hard disks?
Is it that you're concentrating on hardware only and gave up on software
development?

(Note: The above last line is mere speculation on my part. I have no
intentions of creating a rumor!)
Nothing of the sort. Rather, providing hard disk support for a caching
system (now) seems not to be in the customer's best interest. I cite
the following reasons:
1. The Fast File System acheives much of its speed improvement by el-
iminating the buffering step between the user's program and the
disk. A caching program will simply add back in the buffering step
and thereby SLOW disk performance.
2. Steps taken to rectify reason one will lead to technical difficul-
ties which perhaps other persons have not foreseen in their eager
rush for the bucks. I will go so far as to predict that a certain
as yet unreleased upgrade to a certain FaccII knock-off can proba-
bly be made to corrupt Fast File System hard disks rather easily.
3. I have been told that V 1.4 of the Amiga O.S. will most likely con-
tain code to make caching programs obsolete. ASDG, for one, is very
skeptical about asking customers to pay for what they will later
get for free. (I often wonder how people who payed good money for
a product called FastFonts feel about that product now being avail-
able for free).
In summary, ASDG will not place its name on a product unless the prod-
uct proves to be safe, provides real value, and in general, is worth
the money people will be asked to pay. We leave providing products of
dubious quality and questionable value to others who do not share our
ideals.
C'mon Perry. We all respect your products and certainly your right to be
controversial, but your innuendos are out of line here. Like yourself,
cheath has been an ardent supporter of the Amiga and has put out top
quality products right from the beginning.
As far as people who paid for FastFonts….Would they feel better if
another text speedup technique were adopted? I think they can feel rather
pleased with themselves that they adopted early what Commodore has since
adopted as a standard. It's something of a feather in cheath's cap I
think.

be able to provide our customers with quality software, regardless of what

Perry, BlitzDisk DOES speed up hard disks, even with FFS, and does it
safely and reliably. Microsmiths has at least equal quality standards as
ASDG. Microsmiths is very loyal to it's customers. I wish you'd stick to
worrying about how ASDG conduct's it's business rather than throwing mud at
others. FastFonts owners are generally quite happy at having been given the
opportunity to upgrade to BlitzDisk, which is of comparable value to FACC
II, after having bought the original FastFonts package for a similar price
without any expectation of future enhancements. If you care to comment
