CG has done a nice job on fonts, given the basic restriction they suffer–not being able to take advantage of the Adobe font scaling "hints" that allow Adobe PostScript fonts to work well in sizes that are small relative to the device resolution. As long as you're in a "closed system" with CG fonts and a high-resolution typesetting machine, they'll work fine, but they won't proof well on a 300dpi laser printer. Additionally, CG versions of "standard" type faces beyond the basic LaserWriter Plus font set are not guaranteed to match even the basic font metrics of the corresponding Adobe faces, so that jobs created for and proofed with Adobe fonts may not match when output with CG fonts. They are therefore not appropriate for service bureaus which will have to output customer jobs. For people stuck with non-Adobe PostScript printers (like CG's CG Script II on their Genics RIP), the CG fonts appear to be a good choice, but if you can run Adobe fonts you probably should stick with them. The type folks at CG evidently use your company's "Fontographer" product, and are very happy with it. There is one important advantage to using a non-Adobe font–you can use type in such a font as a clipping path. For certain artistic applications, such fonts may be a "godsend".
