#Version 1 Comments
7 messages in this thread
Rick, I got version 1 today, and as I sit here concerned that Exploding
logos are gonna become a cliche (what a neat feature!), here are a few
comments:
1) Although I've only started and skimmed it, the tutorial seems really
well written and illustrated. Congrats!
2) Ham interlace quarterscan settings are wrong. This turns out to be a
typo easily fixable in the config file, but should be corrected in future
shipments.
3) Possible bug: On a closed path generated in the stage editor, the
first and last positions are the same. Thus an orbiting object appears to
pause.
4) An inconvenience: with a Track axis generated in the stage editor, if
you increase the number of frames in the animation, you cannot change the
actor line in the action editor to reflect this. That is, you cannot get
INFO on the object.
5) Finally, just an esthetic thought. Since some users may not get
heavily into the config file usage, Impulse might want to ship with the
"lines" turned off in the primitive mode. The objects look much cleaner.
Finally, do you know if the mentioned warrenty cards were included with any
shipments? There wasn't one in my package.
But, I have to say, this thing was worth the wait!

PS I am using the .FP version, and it is working.
Don: Thanks for the kind words on the manual. I'll look into the
quarterscreencomment and ask about the closed path. I agree about the
tracking
object. What I have done to extend the length of a TRACk is add a second
axis in frame one, go the action editor, eliminate the original track and
rename TRACK.1 as TRACK. It ain't pretty, but it works. I also modified my
config to turn lines off in the shaded wireframe modes. Also, I've added
about a dozen keyboard equivalents to each editor, but Impulse believes
every user will want to customize his or her's differently. –Rick
Rick,
A few more discoveries & questions not in the manuals:
1) What is "Import" on the Project Editor.
2) What is the syntax for function key assignment in the config file?
3) Changing the path for anims or pictures in the requester does not work.
It turns out that whatever is in "pictures" show up in "Anims."
4) The Edit function on the project editor works only intermittently. I
have the program on a hard disk, and it apparantly is looking for a floppy
disk. It keeps telling me there is no floppy disk present (although, via
the CLI I see that it HAS created a Movie file).
I appreciate your help!

Does Imagine 1.0 have a "preview" feature similiar to that of Lightwave 3D?
Where you have your four-view screen, and the view that is of the camera
actually animates by rotating so you can view all sides of the object. This
would be a "neato" feature to add if it is not in the system already.
Joe, I have never seen Lightwave, but Imagine 1 (like .9) has a 4th screen
that you can rotate the view 360 degrees in.

I've just skimmed thru comments to find no one has gone on line with my
imoulse problem, hich I solved. My version was LHARCED and whwn the install
icon just beeped the screen failing to install. So having made a backup I
got into CLI discovered the archived (compressed version of the file) with
the included Lharc program and unarchived it Type Lharc e Drive:Imagine.lzh
to drive:(directory to hold imagine) and copied the direct ories textures
and FX. Ive done the stick figure tutorial and rendered it everythings
working fine. (I cant say I design of the PLAYBIG version of the preview in
animate wireframe. It didnt help to dicscover my errors (wrong arm moving) I
had to wait for color rendreing.
What lousy typing. I tried to edit this but couldnt figure how to do it.
I'm successfully running IMAGINE on a 2000. I want to upgrade with an
accelerator card, cheaply. To get the quality of a 2500. At a user
group, someone reccommended a "sapphire ".Anyone know anything about it?
Sorry for earlier typing errors, I need to learn how to write file off
line to send on line.is this possible?
