#AE sendFAX problems

HELP!!!
I just bought the new Applied Engineering DL2000 internal modem for the
Amiga. The send fax option for some reason does not work with my CLtd
Kronos HD controller. It locks the machine up when the transmit begins.
If I assign SYS: to ram and run it from there, no problem. It appears to be
strickly a HD controller related problem. Although, I have not tried it
with other HD combinations. Any help suggestions wanted. I am going to

I think I know your problem. Check your "DEVSETUP" – look in the section
called "Initialize Unit" for the drive in question (Unit 1000 was my DH0:
when I was running my Kronos). One of your "FLAGS" is probably set to
"Disable_IRQ". It *MUST* be set to "NoDisable_IRQ". Once *That* is
accomplished, up/down loading with modems (internal or external) will work
fine.
If you are set to AUTOBOOT, however, you must make the above change to
your KRONOS BOOT floppy, and then BOOT with the right MOUSE button held
down – so the hard drive doesn't boot up automatically and read the OLD
data into your machine. Now redo your SetAutoBoot to put the new info onto
the files on the hard disk. (If you don't do it as above, the FLAGS
NODISABLE_IRQ information DOESN'T get changed and you still have problems.)
If you have any further questions, don't hesitate to ask. That should do
it for you, however. If you finally get frustrated enough with the Kronos,
you might want to look at the ICD AdSCSI controller. It is a LOT easier to
deal with.

Thanx for the quick answer. That does not appear to be the problem
though. I beleive the Kronos defaults to NoDisable_IRQ. I did try adding
it to the DEVSETUP file but the problem persists. I would like to get a
hardcard anyway. I will look into the ICD controller. There does not
appear to be any support for the Kronos any more. It's to bad as it is a
very fast controller. Norm

Unfortunately, C_Ltd chose to have Disable_IRQ as the default – and thus
all the problems people have with serial communications.
Fast controller, yes. Too bad the support died. My Kronos still works,
but I decided to switch for other reasons. I tried both the TrumpCard
Professional and the ICD. The ICD provided superior performance, for my
setup anyway. And the surprising thing is that it isn't the most expensive
host controller. You won't lose speed in the switch from the Kronos to the
ICD – you'll gain it in the "important" areas (512 byte read/write).

Well, I ordered the ICD controller today! I should have it by the end
of the week.
I spoke to AE about the modem and they acknowledged a problem with
CLtd controllers vs. there DL2000 modem. As CLtd is out of business, they
have no way to get one of CLtd's controllers to find out what the conflict
is.
