Commodore stock is up to where it was last year. At this point you take a risk holding it: how will the Christmas sales look? — Ethan

Since the time I've started following C= stock (NYSE Symbol CBU)in 1984, it traditionally goes up around Thanksgiving, hits a peak just before or after New Year's Day, and starts tumbling shortly thereafter. I attribute that to investors' notion of Commodore, International as a toy computer company. In any case, don't take the ups and downs of a company's stock too literally; prices go down on good news all the time (such as when investors expect GREAT news)… Signed, Tony "I lost money on CBU stock" M. 🙁 ..tony m…

It has gone up a lot very rapidly. In the past 2 1/2 months it has increased 2 1/2 times. — Ethan

Bob, A *GUESS* Commodore is about to release a UNIX box….and they're getting very good reviews of it. Don

Yeah, CBM has two huge things going for it right now: The A3000UX (Unix Box) and The Video Toaster Both are expected to make a VERY SIGNIFIGANT impact in the sales of Amigas, combine that with the already sales of the Amiga 500/2000 and the promising sales of the A3000 and CBM is in a position to not only have a very good XMas but also to carry the increased sales well into 1991. Just my own opinion, -Jason-

Jason, I think AmigaVision may add to the mix as well. And maybe even CDTV. I'm really wondering how non-Amigoids (or even non-computer people) will react to CDTV. Malcolm

Also keep in mind the semi-turnaround in the financials in the last quarterly report. A real profit–small, yes, but the first in a while. Amiga and CBM PC sales are both picking up and with all the other neat things going on (CDTV, A3000UX and the Toast Machine), it looks like some money managers have finally taken notice of this "sleeper" stock.

Bob, I have no idea why CBM's stock price has jumped. But it seems to be historical. Go back for the last couple of years and see what they did at the end of the (calendar) year and you'll see the same type of response — then, again historical, watch them nose dive about February. -sja

I know some people at NewTek attributed it to the toaster's appearance at COMDEX. 🙂 Sure wish I'd bought at $4.

Actually, it started rising the day after the Toaster was shown at the FAUG meeting. Oct 3rd or so?
