Have been running 2 external drives and an Alegra expansion board since
December myself–all powered from the Amiga. I have experienced no problems
whatsoever–In fact, when using Marauderll for diskcopies I usually have all 3
drives running at the same time. I have discussed this two dealers in Michigan
and both are pushing the fact that the power is now carried thru on the
external drives. Both dealers claim this capability is available on all new
1010 drives being produced–I doubt very much this is a fluke on Commodores
part. Unless you plan on really loading up your Amiga, I personally wouldnt
bother the the external power suppy modification as suggested. This is my
opinion only–perhaps someone from Commodore could jump in and enlighten
everyone.
