Toaster cable length-etc
3 messages in this thread
We just received our Toaster.
Our graphics room is seperated by a wall from the editing room. We are
cutting a hole in the wall to run the cables between the two rooms.
We would like to be able to use the Toaster in the graphics room
OR the editing room. Do you see any potential problems?
Can a mouse and keyboard work properly with a 15 or 20 foot cable? Do they
even make them that long?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Bill…..we just finished doing exactly what you are considering and it
works fine….we installed an A/B switch (advertized in Computer Shopper)
which has a db9 and 5 pin din connecter……now we can switch between the
keyboard and mouse in the edit bay with the keyboard and mouse in the
graphics suite…..the run is about 20 ft and so far we've had no
problems…..(except that the Amiga 2000 reboots if you try to switch from
B to A)……..the extension cables can be found at most electronics stores
(I believe Radio Shack carries the mouse extension and we used a Midi
extension for the keyboard)….hope this helps.
Curiousity: How is your edit suite configured? Equipment, etc.
