It works great with all accellerators, except we seem to have a problem
with GVP units – we just today received our GVP accellerator to test with,
so we should hopefully have whatever that is nailed shortly.
To explain our HAM mode, let's look back at the Amiga's. The Amiga uses 6
bit planes. 2 bitplanes are control, and four are data. The two control
bits specify reg load, red load, green load, or blue load. load of 4 bits
for R, G and B is what gives Amiga HAM it's 12 bit range.
The HAM-E ham mode uses 8 bits. two bits for control, six for data. load
reg, load red, load green, load blue – and a couple of curve balls by
mucking about with the 64 possible load reg operations. six bits of data to
r, g and b gets you 18 bits.
In the Amiga, there are 16 regs available. THey are 12 bits, same as the
HAM mode is.
In HAM-E mode, there are up to 240 registers available per frames (480 in
interlace) which are accessed in four pages of 60. And, to make matters
more interesting, these registers are full 24 bit. That means that not only
can they be used for fixup (a much better fixup, 240/480 as compared to 16)
but since they are 24 bit, they can also be used to make the image "finer"
where it is most needed.
Clever render software achieves 24 bit accuracy in many images; we're quite
proud of the resulting images, although we do NOT sell the unit as a 24 bit
unit. 18 bits only.
That keeps us out of the 24 bit wars. :^)

Quite facinating! How will we be able to get technical informations about
HAM-E (for programming purposes) ?
I'm glad to hear it works fine with all (most) accellerators (Mega Midget
Racer in my case).
