Just got Amazing Computing's Vendor Report. My God, how many vendors there are out there for Amiga-based products. I would appreciate help, feedback, and suggestions from those of you who are so inclined. Here's the issue: We were using Amigas 4 years ago, way before there was good support. Unless one suffered with Aegis Animator, online digital video effects were the only way to animate a 2D image. There was no Overscan, no Frame Control. Videoscape was the only inhabitant in the 3D world (Sculpt 3D was just entering the scene, and Forms in Motion was beginning what has become a perennial floundering). There was no good CG. Hardware: no accelerators, no frame buffers, no Genlock, no nothing! In short: when our clients said they were willing to pay for more than we had, we bit the bullet and purchased Compaqs with AT-Vistas. Put in Lumena, AT&T GSL Topas, Tips, etc. We are, of course, happy as are our clients. Here's the dillemma: We are an online facility: D2, 1"C, Beta-SP (75's), Ampex and GrassValley switchers, 2 Channels of ADO, etc. I recognize that the world has changed a LOT in the past few years; Toasters, accelerators, etc. I also notice that many of the new features are redundant with those in our suites. If price was not an issue, and given a stripped-down 2000 now on site, how do you think we should proceed to develop our Amiga platforms to compliment (not repeat) features already available. To put it another way: how does an Amiga platform fit into a facility that has been substantially developed already? (For example, a friend suggested teleprompter and scriptwriting features.)
