perhaps someone using wb2.x with some tech knowledge of the system can
answer this…does 2.x support hardware mmu's, if available? i'm using a
commodore a2620 board, and it'd be nice if the 68851 were put to some real
use. at least it'd protect against one program bringing the whole system
down in a heap.
Andrew,
There is no inherent MMU support in new new OS — there are still too
many problems with incorporating such support into the current operating
system architechture. Unless we are all willing to a total restructuring
of things, which will undoubtedly break almost _all_ existing software, I'm
not sure a memory protection scheme will ever be incorporated, although I
know there are folks who are working hard to prove me wrong. 🙂

Bob,
hmmm, i suppose it _would_ be as traumatic as going to unix from
amigados, having to stock up on new applications and all. almost a shot in
the foot for commodore to not support the software that's out there
already. oh well!
