To All: I would like to make projection slides (35mm) by taking pictures
directly off my monitor. I would appreciate any hints or help you could
offer. Specifically camera settings, and more importantly if there are any
programs for the amiga like harvard graphics (IBM) or Pixel Paint (Mac). My
slides will be combinations of graphics (graphs,imported pictures and
diagrams) and text.

Use a 30th of a second on the exposure, and an f stop appropriate
with a moderate well lit scene and your film speed.
Any faster exposure and you'll get dark bands across the screen
from the raster scan.
Because of the slow shutter speed, you'll have to use a tripod or
some other method to steady the camera for the best picture. And, of
course, be aware, your slide will look like a TV shot. It won't look like
an original drawing or an overhead transparancy.
Since you'll be using slide film, use film balanced for outdoor
use, not film designed for indoor use or use under tungsten lights.

Steven, Also use a 70mm or 75 mm telephoto lens, set about 6 feet from the
monitor screen. this will give you a better depth of field, which will
reduce the screens curvature. You may see some darkening of the edges of
the screen, but it is not too bad.

I make slides from Amiga Images using the Imprint/Palette system
although a hefty hardware investment does yield superior images to shooting
off the monitor screen. At present, I can handle anything up to and
icluding HAM and 640×400, however I do intend to upgrade to 24bit files in
the future. I do this as a side buisness. If you're interested, reply via

What equipment are you planning to upgrade to?

Digital Palette 3000, but what I have does serve conventional slides
fine. Also upgrading is a severe money problem at the moment.
