What do you mean by "proven to be unstable"? What's your general system setup? I'm strongly considering the purchase of Opti-net to share a single CD on a 10 user Netware 2.2, arcnet lan. Pro's – con's highly appreciated! ???

Eric, I am a the primary software engineer for Online's OPTI-NET product line, which is well suited for your described installation. If you have specific questions on OPTI-NET I would be happy to answer them. Chris Magyar Online Products Corporation (800) 922-9204

We had a stack of 8 CD-ROM drives which we had been networking over a large Netware LAN. As we added more users, the server would freeze up intermittently and without warning. Since there's no diagnostic information available, it's just about impossible to figure out what was causing the problem. OptiNet's technical service wasn't too helpful – they wanted us to pay for updated software. We've since switched to another system (hardware and software) and have had better luck. The problem you are referring to is probably related to exceeding the number of SPX connections set in the SHELL.CFG (SPX CONNECTIONS = xxx). I have seen at least one version of the IPX.COM driver which ignored this parameter unless an override switch was used. To my knowledge, there is no other such problem in the software. I humbly apologize for our inability to speedily rectify your problem at the time. Please feel free to contact me for more information.
