What the h… is a 'subrunform.tmp file and where do I get one? Every time I try to edit a form from within SB I get an error messeage (in a requestor that never closes, behind my manin screen, please fix that) saying 'Can't open subrunform.temp'. It's a drag to have to work on forms by running the forms editor as a seperate task and not be able to modify directly from the SB screen.

Loren, If I remember correctly, the problem has to do with the 1.3 operating system. If you want to be able to start Form Designer from Superbase then you will have to upgrade to the 2.0 version of the OS. Ciao, Neil

Doubt that problem is with Amiga-DOS, error message is looking for a file that it can't find, doesn't exist. Have no intention of moving to 2.0 until the bugs are out. Also seriously considering moving back to SB 3.0 considering all the problems that are cropping up with 4.0 and 4.01. More on that later.

Loren, before I forget, it *is* a problem with your version of DOS, I clarified this one months ago on this forum with Tim Arnot of SPC. The message you are getting has to do with an invocation that only works under 2.0 and otherwise results in the message you got. Ciao, Neil

Thanks for the firm response, guess I live with it.

Loren, I've been running 2.04 for half a year now and would never consider going back to 1.3. I have it on the machine and occasionally I have to use it (the CDTV disk Time Table of History Science and Innovation won't run under 2.04, it works fine under 1.3 though) but, almost everything I want to run is going fine under 2.04. I haven't had many problems with SB4 1.01, but I haven't stretched it much either because I'm still waiting for them to fix a glaring error which makes it useless here in Germany, ie. the fact that for some reason the program converts lower case German u-umlauts to upper case ones making address labels and mail merge letters completely useless. Thanks for the comment on 2.04, biggest problem is getting it! Totally unavaiable from any dealers in the area, last check (last week ) none could even get a shipping commitment or price from CBM! I'm putting together a list of problems with SB4/Amiga, several small iritations, several gripes about neat features that were in 3.0 that have been pulled on 4.0, and a couple of major problem, primarily lack of documentation to use some of the new features.

Loren, I'm still waiting to get my complimetary version of Amiga SB4. Hopefully that will still come through, even though now I have to try and pry it out of Oxxi 8-). You think your documentation is bad, I'm supporting it using the docs to the *Windows* version. In any event, you are probably justified in your gripes, documentation was their weak spot, they simply didn't have the staff to keep up with everything they were doing. Ciao, Neil

I'm your opignon. But if this would be the only bug I'd be glad to use it. Every day I find new bugs (or bugs that just look different ?) Let's hope Oxxi will get the problems solved some day. Right now I'm thinking of moving to something totaly different -> programming the whole stuff in C. Best regards -Mike PS: perhaps you could give me your phone no. so that we can talk regarding problems which occure and 'work arounds' CompuStore GmbH |Fritz-Reuter-Str. 6 |CI$ 71001,210 |Tel: +49 69 567 399 Michael Metz |D-W6000 Frankfurt 1 |BIX: mimetz |Fax: +49 6 ael Metz |D-W6000 Frankfurt 1 |BIX: mimetz |Fax: +49 69 560 17 84

Loren, Someone will correct me if I am wrong but if you are using v1.01 of SB4A and OS 1.3 or below, you cannot access the forms editor directly from superbase, You need the 2.04 OS to implement that feature, in the meantime you could go back to v1.00, (which only has some minor differences and some obscure bugs). I too am unsure of OXXI's track record and as SB4A is the major s/w that my company deals with, we too may be headed to MeSy DOS land to if OXXI fumbles this ball. ..Steve Whap!ping from beautiful coastal South Carolina

Almost right 🙂 With V1.01 and OS1.3, you can't RUN the form designer from within Superbase. However you CAN switch to FD if it is already in memory (it will still automatically pick up the form and send it back to SB) Tim.
