God Bless You, Sherwood! Gary: See, I'm not the only one…

What about the Hercules GraphStation 3D. It is a combo framebuffer and
i860. It will also cost you about 1/2 as much.
We don't know anything about the Herc GraphStation. What runs on it?

Ken,
RE: Superstation 3D, whats runs on it?
NOTHING!!! Somebody please correct me if I wrong, please.
James
Well, you are sort of not right. It all depends on what you consider
something. Renderstar-2/i860 (almost sure that I have that right) runs on
the Hercules Superstation 3D. I know almost nothing about it, except that
it was developed in Europe. Big D (a ray tracing program) also runs on the
Herc. I am waiting for Gary to break down and make 3D Studio run on an
i860 board <BIG G!<and PUN, sort of like>>
By the way, I know a James Hyde here in the northwest. He is not into
computer graphics.
Albert,
All these programs you mentioned are renderers only, aren't they? I'm
hoping to find a complete system that runs on an i860 so not only is
rendering speeded up but also the interactive work. I'm growing tired of
hide/unhide……. With the 860 so tightly coupled to to the display on the
herc card it should be pretty zippy for modeling, animation AND rendering.
Maybe if we all gang up on Gary…….<g>.
Have you seen anything on the Expressway from Lazerus? Looks pretty
similiar to the Herc 3D, and even has modeling/animation SW, but I've yet
to see a review or talk to somebody that actually uses this thing. From a
hardware point of view this thing looks even better, considering the Xilinx
ram based gate array, it could really be optimized for a particular
application.

P.S. About that guy you know, must be one of my clones run amuck, we all
typically hang around in the south<gggg>.
I have a application call Render Star. It renders a COMPLEX scene in about
15 secs. Only rendering though.
The Herc Graph Station 3D is the card that that mail order house in FL
claims will speed up 3DS 6Xs. Alas they are selling vaporware.
Seems to me that any company that can speed up 3DS 6X oughta be willing to
make a board available to the Yost Group for evaluation. It would be the
best marketing move they could make (IF it works <g>).
