Glenn, are you referring to 3DS? If so, check out page 7-177 in the reference section. That should cover it for you. – G

I checked page 7-177 but it doesn't tell me how to produce 16 or 24 bit targa images on a NULL display device. Is there a system variable or line in the 3ds.set file that will tell 3DS to produce 16 or 24 bit targas??? OR Can I use one of the supplied drivers and just output to disk??

This release of 3DS produces 24-bit Targa files. If you need 16-bit Targa's you'll need some software that loads 24-bit and saves 16-bit. (And you'll probably need a frame buffer as well.) – Jack

One piece of software for the 24-16 conversion that comes to mind is ChromaTools, by Videotex in Dallas. Their number is (214) 343-4500. The advantage is that you do not need a frame buffer to use the program (it operates in VGA mode). Ken Loss-Cutler
