I am using Pagesetter II from Gold Disk with a HP Paintjet. When I print out bitmapped graphics I get bands of slightly differnt shades accross the graphic. These do not appear when I print out the smae graphic from Deluxe Paint IV. I have installeld the Pagesetter version of the HP print driver. I have tried the various dither settings, but they all yield the same horizontal bands. Other than this, this is a good program. Can anyone help?

Walter: Didn't Philip help you with that today… Someone had called techsupport for that very question.. Did he manage to help you out with this? Best regards, Darlene McLean Gold Disk Technical Support

Yes, I called tech support, but they were unable to help. They admitted that they knew about the problem, and said that it might corrected in Pagesetter III, maybe. Meanwhile I'm stuck with less than ideal printouts. Other than that, this is a good program.

Walter: Send me the file that you are having the problem with on disk along with an example of the output. I'll have a look at it and try my best to help you with this. Best regards, Darlene McLean Gold Disk Technical Support

OK! Alm leaving on vacation, but will send this to you shortly after the first of the year. The problem is not just with one file, but just about every digitized picture that I try to print. Thanks in advance for the offer to help.

Dear Gold Disk: While you are on-line regarding PageSetter II, can I ask a question also ? I have an A2000 with DOS 1.3, the 1 meg Agnus and a hard drive. PageSetter II has functioned very well. Now I want to upgrade to DOS 2.0 (actually, I think its DOS 2.04) in ROM. Will PageSetter II work with DOS 2.0 ? – via Whap!

We run PageSetterII at work on O/S 2.0, but it is not considered WB2 Compatible. PageSetterIII, which is set to be released in the New Year will be WB 2.04 compatible. Best regards, Darlene McLean Gold Disk Technical Support

Darlene: Thanks for the information. However I'm a little confused. You say, "We run PageSetter II at work on O/S 2.0, but it is not considered WB2 Compatible." What kinds of things would I be able to do under 2.0 and what kinds of things would not work. I have about 2 MEG of one-page newsletters that I simply cannot afford to loose in an upgrade to 2.0. These are fairly simply documents with CGTimes in 20-40 point with 2 graphics, one structured and one bit-mapped. I have an A2000 with 3 Meg, a 1 meg Agnus, GVP controller/ST-157 Harddrive, and HPIIP printer. If I cannot utilize Pagesetter II to print and modify those documents, I would probably defer the upgrade to 2.0 until after June 1, 1992 when I can relinquish my newsletter obligations. Any help you could give me in making this decision would be GREATLY appreciated. Will Pagesetter II be able to get my tasks done under 2.0 ???????? – via Whap!

Well…my suggestion to be absolutley safe is to ssay NO wait. I cannot guarantee software that is not O/S 2.04 compatible. Yes you will or might have printing problems. This is a fairly old program that knows nothing of WB2.04. We are however currently working on PageSetterIII that will be O/S 2.04 compatible. Hope you have a Merry Christmas!
