Title : MegaWatts Christmas Demo 1991
Keywords: MEGAWATTS CHRISTMAS XMAS EURO DEMO
This is the MegaWatts Christmas 1991 Demo. Features
static, slideshow-type graphics with excellent Xmas oriented music. This
is archived in the .DMS format, require DMS to extract (in the Archivers
library in AmigaUser Forum). It contains a custom boot block but does
not contain any virus.
Steve:
I seem to be having some problems with this file, perhaps you can help
me out. The problems may be all my fault. I downloaded this file with
Whap! just fine, got a file size of 441600 with no problems. I downloaded
DMS just fine and ran the self-extracting file to get DMS (Filesize 24816);
all went well. I then copied DMS and MW_XMA.DMS to RAM: and tried to UN-DMS
the file to a newly formatted blank disk, using DMS WRITE MW_XMA TO DF0:. I
got an intro message from DMS, then a few messages from MegaWatts
Christmas, including some authors names, etc. After a user prompt, I saw
messages indicating unpacking and writing to tracks from 1 to 79. At that
point I get a fatal error message and a system prompt of Bad Checksum 880
for the disk I was writing to. I retried this process using different
floppies, then I tried using DF2:, again with newly formatted floppies.
Always the same result, things go great up to track 79. Those same disks
and the 2 drives both work well with any task other than this one. I then
tried to use DISKX and DISKSALV on the corrupted disk. Neither one seemed
to find any file worth saving.
I really do not want to download another 33 minutes if it is atall
possible to avoid it. Any ideas what I might be doing wrong.

Bill, Did you try booting from the disk you decompressed to? I also got
the error from DMS, however the disk creation worked fine and the demo ran
fine.
