#QB upgrade
4 messages in this thread
Hello Jim
A couple of quick quick questions fer ya;
I just upgraded to wb2.04 and have QuarterBack v4.0 – are there any know
problems with using this version with the new operating system? I want to
back up my entire harddrive (I did an icremental (sp?) backup prior to
installing v2) and reformat the drive for the new ROM based FFS. However I
nervous using QB4.0 and afraid something might go wrong when I'm ready to
restore my HD. I was just going to wait and upgrade QB when your new v5.0
is released, but now I'm thinking maybe I should get v4.3. What do you
think?
I also need your address – I have a registration card for QBTools v1.5
which I have had around here for quite sometime without ever mailing in.
Now that I am finally getting around to mailing it, I find that it's
address is for the old CCS location in Golden. Knowing that you all now
have all CCS activities at your TX location I need that address. While
I'm at it is v1.5of tools current for wb2.0?
Thanks

Roy,
Don't do it! You need the latest and greatest, 4.03. I too went
through this when I recently upgraded to 2.04 and got a 105 meg HD to
replace my 40 meg one. I caught it in time, fortunately…

Thanks JR
I have been thinking about upgrading my very tight 40meg HD with and
addition of a new 105 meg drive. I'll just wait til I get the new drive
and in the mean time upgrade my QB version. I have looked at and tryed
that thing that comes with v2.0, but in my opinion it's a piece of junk.
Boy I was just looking in the mags. tonight and noticed that the price
of the Q105 meg drive is way down. A couple of the ads in AmigaWorld
listed the drive for less than $350 bucks and I suspect if I go directly to
some of the PC sourses of hard drives (Like HardDrive International) I can
probably get one for even less.
I'm really starting to look forward to getting a new drive. I've been
living with a 5meg WB partition and 35meg for my WORK area for so long now
that things are really quite tight. (84% – 90% on the WORK and 95% on WB) I
don't know what I'm goin' do with all the new space, but I'm sure I'll
figure somethin' out 😉

Roy,
Sounds like your setup is identical to my old one. I now have five
partitions on my 105 meg drive…10 mb for WB, 25 for DTP, 15 for Video and
the rest sits for using SunRize's new digital sampler which I just got to
do sound for some films I am doing now. It records straight to the hard
drive…VERY nice.
I agree…the backup program that 2.04 comes with is TRASH. A nice
touch, but better luck next time. I look forward to Quarterback 5.0's
pending arrival and the addition of COMPRESSION!
