Upgrade Imagine 2.0? I have Imagine 1.1 and have not yet received the newsletter mentioned here regarding the upgrade availability for V2.0. I would like very much to order it. Woule someone be good enough to post what Impulse asks for the upgrade and whether or not manual covers, original disks etc. must be sent in to qualify for the upgrade? Many thanks, George Roland

George, I'm a registered user of Imagine 1.1. I called Impulse, told them I was a registered user and wanted to upgrade. All they wanted was my credit card number and address. I ordered it last week before it was ready to ship. It costs $100.00. – via Whap!

I too, am supposedly a registered user. There was no registration in the box when I bought it at AmiExpo in Oct 1990. They did find me for the 0.9 t0 1.0 and 1.10 updates. I was waiting to receive the notice for 2.0 but didn't realize it was a "self-service" notification process. I've never gotten this much talked about Impulse news letter either. Kinda wonder about their customer and product registration files… wmc

I received Impulse's newsletter for one year after I bought Turbosilver and then the newsletters stopped coming. If it wasn't for compuserve, I wouldn't even have known about 2.0. I jumped on the phone as soon as someone mentioned a release date. As it turned out, even though I was preordering it, they already had a thousand orders. – via Whap!

I received my newsletter, I assume because I sent in my registration card when I purchased Imagine.

Joe, I asked them about the registration and they said the form I filled out at Expo to get my .9 to 1.0 upgrade was sufficient.?!?! wmc

Wayne, I'm in the same boat as a registered user up to Imagine 1.10. I haven't heard anything. Is the V2.0 Upgrade worth it? Take Care, Barry – via Whap!

Peter, hang in there! I just received my 2.0 upgrade on Thursday, so they are still trickling out! (to be fair, I bet that there were a LOT of upgrades, and that they are being mailed out pretty quickly) First impression is good. Seems faster and more responsive, to start. Uses the FireCracker24 display (at last!). Neat (?) Gold lettering on the gadgets and menus (but heck, I thought I needed to get glasses when I first looked at the menus…. putting embossing in menu text seems a bit too much, and BLURRRRRY) 🙂 Manual seems better. Won't really know till you have to USE it a lot, you know what I mean. But a bad biggie (to me) is….. … NO INDEX!. I swear that they must feel that tradition demands that they don't put an index in their manual. Every blinking time some nice user has to provide one later on. (if they'd just set the manual with AmigaTeX they could have had the sweetest, most accurate index, automatically! — oh well) –jp–seattle–

John, there is a complete index in my manual. It's before the appendixes and just after page 240. – via Whap!

Bruce, YOUR'RE RIGHT! I apologize! You know, a friend and I both used 2.0 for about two hours the eve before, and were perusing the manual the whole time. Before I posted the note I double checked, by leafing through the manual, but I just missed it. Now I see it. BTW, as I posted earlier, the manual looks pretty nice. You actually documented the config file stuff. Thanks. I wondered who wrote the manual. You should be listed in it as the author, I'd think? –jp–seattle–

John, I'd lay money that Mike Halvorsen wrote the bulk of the manual. It has the same wandering, wordy style that I don't mind in newsletters, but tire of quickly in a user manual. Also, he tends to use commas where periods are needed. I wish he'd just have an editor go over it. But Hey! It's a manual!! I'm learning quite a bit going through it, and playing around with all the new features. I love having QuickDraw in all the editors, having Quickrender, having the buttons along the bottom (though I had to tone down the intensity to keep from going blind). I like having the Action editor split out. I DON'T like how incomplete the Index is, but at least there is one, for some of the things I've wanted to look up. I wish SetZone would have been put back in, but I'm happy that X-Specs made it back. If I have to sit through a picture when it loads, the new one is more acceptable. Of course, the best part is that it seems faster to me, though since I recently got a 2620, I may be confused. What do you think? (OK, i have to say that I hate the binding on the manaul, too) But all in all, I love the additions, many of which I probably haven't even found yet. Ooh! And what about that brush-wrap positioning fix? I did the deliberate space-off-by-one-pixel and goofed my wrap. I tried it again without doing anything and it worked! Yay!

Ya mean I don't have to move my Brushes around anymore to get em to wrap Correctly?Awesome
