CanDO questions
7 messages in this thread
I am trying to decide between buying AC Basic and CanDo for some programing
projects I am working on. Can some one tell me if CanDo can handle
generating random numbers? I have the Test drive of 1.5, but I can't
figure out if I can make it do exactly what I want. Right now I code
everything in AmigaBASIC, but I am having a hrad time getting the results
to look professional AND run fairly fast.
Also, can CANDO manipulate the pallette of an IFF picture?
Thanks,
Chris
Yes. I just received 2.0 of CanDo.
From what I started with at 1.5, CanDo has had a random number generator
command in all versions. Here's the description from my 2.0 manual:
Glad you got your upgrade OK, Vance. And thanks for the help with the
question from Chris!

Yup, I like 2.0 ALOT! The manual is a huge improvement, too!

Hope that Vance's answer was helpful to you, Chris. Anything else you
would like to know?

Thanks for the answers to my questions. Now I have a couple more
questions/ comments.
I probably will go with CanDo, even though there is one thing it
can't do for me that True Basic can. Eventually I'll need to transfer my
programs over to the IBM world (no, I'm not abandoning the Amiga, it's just
that my IBM owning friends want me to write some programs for them.)
I can do that fairly easily with True Basic, (well, easier than some
other languages anyway.)
The perfect solution for me would be a Cross Compiler that would take
CanDo decks and make IBM programs. I would rather see that than a version
of CanDo for the IBM. Wouldn't it get IBM owners goat to find out that
great program they just used was created on an Amiga?
Anyway, just wishing…
Thanks Again, Chris
Well, moving CanDo to the IBM (or even just moving CanDo programs) is a
monumental task that we have not yet seriously examined. For now we are
still concentrating completely on the Amiga.
Anyway, I hope CanDo fills your needs.
