HELP! I have a major problem and can anyone help? I use a 5meg AMIGA500+ with GVP Impact Series II hardrive. The problems concerns the GVP 286 PC Emulator which I have recently fitted. It does not appear to be running PC programs, I have divided the memory equally between the ext & exp memory and while DOS 5 runs reasonably well – apart from the DOS 5 editor which only opens to a window of unviewable static. The CIS V2 program installed onto my 10meg hard disc partition well enough but will not run when accessed. I only get a flashing cursor on a black screen. Has anybody else had this problem and solved it? I'd be really gratefull for your assistance as I'd like to get my PC programs up and running. Thanks! IAIN.

IAIN: I have a similar setup to yours. Try playing around with the emmulations. I have found that CGA works best with 8 color text if you have an accelerated machine. The first thing you should do is copy all the files from the GVP Utility disk which are in MSDOS format, to your C: directory. You can change the emmulations (CGA, EGA, VGA, MDA) from the dos prompt until you get something acceptable. I don't know what CIM hardware requirements are, so I can't help you with that. Also try allocating only 512k to the emmulator and make increases in small increments. Unlike the Amiga, PC clones require special drivers in the config.sys file to access any memory over 640k. GVP includes such a driver, but It doesn't work with everything. WordPerfect for example requires a standard LIM (Lotus-INtel-Microsoft) driver to access expanded memory. BTW DOSSHELL works best in monochrome 4-color text mode. A. Pagan
