#Type1 fonts
5 messages in this thread
Can any one please outline the way to use the Adobe type1 fonts with my
Amiga? I have 2.04 system.
Thanks
Mathew
If you can tell us a little more about what software you want to use the
Type-1 fonts with, we should be able to help.
If you just want to use them as system fonts then you either need to
convert them to bitmap fonts or CompuGraphic fonts … if you're using
PageStream DTP then you can more or less use them as they are … ProPage
needs CompuGraphic fonts, but comes with a utility to convert Type-1 to CG.
But we can dicsuss these (and other matters) in more detail when we have a
better idea of what you want to do with the fonts.

Mike,
I guess I was just wondering how to get them to work with my system. I
really had intended to use the Type1 fonts with Imagine (all the fonts that
I've tried to use with imagine had less than breath-taking results) and now
possibly with Pixel 3D.

Type 1 fonts can only be used with certain programs on the Amiga.
PageStream and Art Expression are the only two programs I know of which use
them directly. ProPage and ProDraw both come with a converter to convert
them into Compugraphic format for use with those programs. We will be
selling TypeSmith in January which will convert fonts between PostScript
Type 1, Type 3, Compugraphic Intellifont and Soft-Logik DMF formats.

Mathew,
Do you have PPage 3.0? If so, use the Fontmanager program to convert the
Type 1 fonts to CGFonts, then use Fountain to make these useable on your
workbench.
Best wishes,
John
