#Disk 1?,Disk 2?
7 messages in this thread
Jeffrey, I wasn't sure who to address this gripe to specifically. I'd
appreciate it if you would pass this along to the proper folks in Customer
service. I just got a call from my dealer who informed me that Disk 1 is
the incorrect disk to send in order to upgrade to AA Pro 1.3. This is *3
weeks* after I made the arrangement for the upgrade. It seems that Disk 2
is the only disk that has the serial no. on it (contrary to every other
upgrade with Autodesk products that I have done in the past, AutoCad & 3DS
& I think the upgrade from the original Animator). I am willing to accept
partial fault for not examining the disks closer in my rush to get that CD,
and my dealer should also have known (they insist that the Adesk forms say
disk 1 – I don't know, having tossed mine thinking that I had beaten the
notice via prior CI$ knowledge), however this inconsistency in policy (disk
2 reqd for upgrade) is troublesome, and has wasted 3 weeks time.

Jeffrey,
Yep, screwed me up for all of 5 minutes! While Autodesk's upgrade
info for both dealers and customers states disk #1 is needed for the
upgrade, it is indeed disk #2 (of Animator Pro) that has the serial #.
Your dealer should have noticed the moment they had to fill out the RMA
form (I do it from the disks, not a customer's previous invoice).

Kevin,
I've had nothing but problems (small and large) with the local
dealers. In my attempts to stay congenial I have spread my frustration
around (4 dealers and counting). At least these last folks return my calls
within 2 weeks. Ever thought of moving to balmy Baltimore <g> (today's temp
a bracing 33 degrees F)?
BTW, have you had experience with the Summa II+ tablet? I'm having a
problem that Gary, not having a tablet handy, can't answer at the moment
(see message 28980).

Good luck getting 1.3 – I sent the right disk (after pondering the
inconsistency) over 5 weeks ago and I STILL haven't received the upgrade.
My dealer says they are just slow. I'm about to put them into the "so
what?, we are Autodesk and you are nobody" category.
JKJ (slowly! developing an attitude problem)
If it's been five weeks and there is no upgrade on your door step yet, it's
time for your dealer to call customer service and say "Yo!" at them.
Kind Mr. PhilD,
My dealer has been YO!ing customer service for weeks now (at least
that's what he tells me). I ordered 3DS 2.01 at the same time. He knows
I've been anxious for both, especially since I got the IPAS packages weeks
ago. Since I've seen neither, he finally gave me his copy of 2.01.
Will it do me any good to call customer service? What is their number?
Should I divorce my dealer? Do you have any patience for sale? <g>
