#WOC Toronto Report p3

– CONTINUED FROM PREVIOUS POST
Moonlighter software was showing Ami-Back but didn't have a release date
set yet for Ami-Tools…
Scala was running demos all thru the Con on the use & functions of the
Scala software.
Soft-Logik was showing Pagestream 2.2 & Art Expression, their structured
drawing program, and were demoing typeSMITH "The professional Amiga outline
font editor" which can create & load Pagestream fonts, PS fonts and
Compugraphic fonts for use with Professional Page, Professional Draw and
Workbench 2 and 3, due to be released in January.
Extras: ——The Virtuality system was being shown, and Con attendees were
given about five minutes to experience this for themselves. The only
drawback was the size of the line…
Commodore was showing a video of their past advertising campaigns for the
C64 & A1000… Some of which were very good, and some which seemed to try
and do anything but show the machine… I have to admit I got goosebumps
seeing the original A1000 ad (Commodore should try to re-use the idea, but
with showing the system more than the scenery)…

Don,
Thanks for taking time to write and send up this report on the WOC,
Toronto. We were all wondering what was happening there.
—Betty
Thanks for the report Don!

Gold Disk is supporting Soft Logik's Hotlinks? Fascinating. — Art
No, Gold Disk also uses a process they call hot-links, that they use in a
similar fashion… However it is a different product.

The two should get together. We need a STANDARD way of supporting this
kind of data sharing. The clipboard "standard" just doesn't compare very
well to Windows' OLE, or the Mac's Publish and Subscribe.

We DO have Publish and Subscribe. The system was given to the Amiga
community by SoftLogik. Developer kits are fre for the downloading. And
SoftLogik will soon release a networkable version! IMHO CBM should jump on
this and incorperate in the OS.

Imagemaster also supports HotLinks. :^)

…via AutoPilot
Ben,
Oh yeah, I forgot about that! But I still think CBM should adopt
SoftLogik's Hot>>Links the way they did Arexx. They complement each other,
and with both Arexx and Hot>>Links no other OS could come close to
AmigaDos in terms of flexibility and connectivity.
BTW I have just started trying to put together a script for the IM
sequence processor that will clip a section of the screen, clear the
screen to black, and stamp the clip back down centered vertically. The
goal: to create letterbox style anims. This should be simple, but it is
also my first attempt at a script, so we'll see. . .

Sounds good – let me know if you need a nudge or a hint.

Thanks Ben, I will.
