#Transfer protocols

Hello out there! Could anyone explain what the differences in transfer protocols are? Xmodem, Ymodem, Compuserve B, b+, and so on and so on. Its all so confusing! whats the best? (fastest?) please help. Eric

The best thing to use with Compuserve is B+. Xmodem is to be avoided at all costs because it's very slow.

Hi Jim. Thanks for the info. what about data compression? Does Compuserve support the V.42bis? I just got the SupraFax modem and am wading thru all the nonsense about error correction/data compression. Its all greek to me. The modem came with ATalk III software. Eric\r

I don't know what Compuserve supports because I'm still stuck at a plain 2400-baud modem. Sorry.

Xmodem is faster than Kermit
