#Ncomm Up/Downloading

I don't know if it is the right place for this message but here it is. I
have a problem when downloading files.
When using Xmodem or Ymodem I get a bad block error and eventually an host
abort for too many retries. I've tried using both Xmodem CRC and checksum.
What versions of Xmodem and Ymodem do you use?
I can download with Kermit but it is very slow.
I'm using Ncomm2.0 on an A1500. This progam supports the Compuserve B
protocol but there is no XPR library supplied. Is this available anywhere?
Other than this no comms problems. On BBS's I generally use Zmodem and have
no problems.
Haven't bothered to try NComm2.0, been using Backtalk 155a for some time
now and need no other term. XPR libraries come with it, but there are
separate files for the XPRlibraries. Here is the one for B+

You will find the xpr libraries for most protocols in Library 5 of
AmigaUser, including bplus. That is what you really need. I would
suggest that you try using YModem in order to get it. XModem is the very
last choice for a lot of reasons. I think if you will get the
xprbplus.library and use that, you will find that your downloads just zip
along without problems.

NComm2.0 does NOT work with Compuserve-B when set up to use the p
program's internal switch; it has to be implemented as an External E-XPR
protocol, using the Options menu. Even then, you may find that it takes
several tries before the program will download, depending on which version
of the protocol you are using. This is a well-known bug with NComm2.0.

I wonder if the author of NComm is aware of the "bug". Maybe if Compuserve
gave him free access for a month or so he would fix it! Hint. Hint.
NComm is a great program. How about it Compuserve?

I doubt it, Jon. When Version 2 came out, I E-mailed him (not via
CompuServe) to let him know about the bug. I received a brief reply in
acknowledgement, informing me he was not a member of CompuServe and
implying (or at least I inferred) that he was not very interested in fixing
it. Pity; like you, I agree NComm is a good program.
