Hello Leonard. Don't know if you were able to get any more info from "Black
Knight " but here is what I have run into.
I FAXed them some questions on their "TOP CHIP" and "FastLane" about
compatiblities and possible dealers in Canada. A couple of days later I
got a return FAX with a 2 out of 10 of my questions answered.
1) The Top Chip is shipping 2) The FastLane is not
The person said that they would have to check with the ENGINEER on the rest
of the questions. That was almost 2 weeks ago!!! I just sent another FAX
to them pointing out that if I couldn't get any answers now; what kind of
support could I expect later….
I'll let you know if I get any more information. I think that I am going
to go with DKB's MegaChip 2000; they answered my FAX promptly and with lots
of information.

Thanks for the reply. While I am not normally one to spread rumors, I
believe it would at this time be wise to avoid BKP. I too will be
purchasing a DKB board or another locally produced alternative. Both of
which do appear to support there users and answer questions. I have since
spoken to an AMIGA dealer and even they have not been able to get any
positive information from the company. Not they way I would recommend
doing business I'm afraid.
Just for the record I am going to persist and try and buy their "No
More Switches" product (it's relatively cheap) and get a look at how well
it is made etc. It will be interesting to see just how long this will
take.
In the meantime – I suggest buyers BEWARE.

A friend of mine ordered their EPROM burner and Rom switcher about 1 1/2
months ago and has seen neither product. Although they haven't cashed his
check yet, I would still avoid purchasing from Black Knight until users
start reporting that they are actually shipping. It sounds like they are
doing their R&D based on vaporware funds.

I think you are correct. I have since spoken to a number of people re
BKP including two dealers. Nobody has actually been able to get anything
other than paper from them and even then its difficult when you actually
want it. I propose to purchase one of their cheaper products (NO MORE
SWITCHES) and give it the once over to see what qualit it is.

I'm here in Reno NV and I could try and find out if the company is doing
anything… If anyone really needs to know, leave me e-mail and I'll follow
up on it… PS: I'm a dealer, in their home town, and I haven't seen or

Pardon me for jumping in here, but I used to live in Reno,NV. I used to go
to your user group meetings at the Reno-Gazette Journal building.
(You're the one that helped convince me to wait 3 years for the Toaster –
tho' it WAS worth the wait. :^)
I moved out of the area a few years back, but when I was in town this
Thanksgiving, I dropped by your new store (I went to your old location,
only to find you'd moved), looks nice. Glad to see you're still around.
(P.S. your 486-66 system was having some major problems with its' windows
drivers when I was there. :^)
I didn't realize Black Knight was coming out of Reno. I'd read their ads,
but never checked their mailing address. (I agree, it is pretty strange
that you haven't heard anything from them – you'd think they would at
least support their local dealer, if not try to sell their products
through your store?)
Oh well, keep up the good work.

Thanks for the reply. I have all but given up on BKP. I have purchased
another locally made chip ram expansion product and so far it has been
great (if a little expensive.) It does seen that BKP are developing a
little bit of a reputation re very poor customer service/relations here in
Australia. This is not really very good. I have ahd some feedback from
someone who has actually managed to get their TOP CHIP product and he has
said it is working well – he to has had trouble communicating with them. I
am now adopting a wait and see attitude re the company and its products.

Has anyone heard anything about Black Knight's beta test program? Their
ads used to say something like "send a SASE for details", now they say
"send us $25 to join"! If you send them $25, are you guaranteed to be
accepted?!

I think I would keep my $25 unless you can get some very positive
information on what you will receive in return. Then I would be asking a
lot of questions first just to see what sort of support you can expect.
