Tumble Help
8 messages in this thread
Can anybody out there UL a copy of the tumble effect to me. I think
there is something wrong with my file. I've talked to other people and
nobody seems to have any problems with it. When I use the effect, nothing
happens to my object. It just sits there. Makes for a boring asteroid
field. Anyways, any help is appreciated. Thanks.
Randy.
Randy,
I'm afraid I can't be of help, but I can tell you that you are not alone.
I've tried using tumble a number of times and it has never had any
effect.

Well, at least I'm not the only one out there. Thanks anyways….
Randy.
i'm not sure on this but i think your object that you want to tumble has to
be the child of an axis and the axis is what tracks to the path, and i
think it only works with objects in motion, or atleast thats how i got it
to work.
Never tried it on a moving object before. I'll have to try it out.
Thanks.
Randy.
So not just the Boing FX was mangled eh?
Peter and Randy – This seems to be one of those rare instances where
reading the manual is useful. I was able to get this to work by creating
an object in the detail editor as follows.
1. Load or create the object to be tumbled.
2. Add an axis.
3. Group the object to the axis by clicking on the axis and then
shift-clicking on the object and selecting the menu item Group. This will
make the axis the parent of the group and the object the child.
4. Save the object.
Then go into the action editor and add the tumble effect. Give it a try!

Well, I tried it and it worked!!!! I read Worleys manual but it didn't
mention anything about it. It didn't even dawn on me to look in the actual
Imagine manual. Guess it might actually have it's uses. Thanks..
Randy.
