FORGET THE A3000…HERE'S THE SCOOP ON THE A4000
Well, as you know, the Amiga 3000 is near completion. So work has
already started on the Amiga 4000. The new chip set for that one
includes the chips you mentioned, but also the following ones:
Ronald. He does a good supervisory job. This is the new MMU, which will
bypass the 68551 internal to the 68030. As you know, an MMU's task is
rather short and frequent, although the job is considered full-time.
Ronald spends a lot of time napping during "wait states".
Haig. This is the new superfast DMA channel control chip. It often
interrupts other chips tasks to perform quick channel initializations.
Haig is "in control".
Oliver. Because the old chips were not initially designed to work with
new ones, Oliver performs critical undercover operations, and then
lies to the old congress of chips, making everything seem normal.
Nancy. This is a timer and parity checker which makes sure Ronald makes
the right decisions at the right time. Very often, she makes
suggestions. Nancy often defends Ronald in his tasks replying "We're
doing everything we can".
George. This chip doesn't really do anything. It's been included just
to make the list longer. With him, the total count comes to an eight,
a number better understood in computerese.

Now THIS one IS funny!
Lloyd
Mike,
Now thats a believable rumor! Har! Although there is some foundation
for the Haig chip. Did you know that Alexander Haig is on the board of
directors for CBM?
<Glenn
Glenn Yep I know when Haig is in charge and where he ain't!!!
